Trademarking Color Palettes

The blue, white, and black stripes of the Mono plastic eraser are indeed classic, and the Japanese government is now officially recognizing this fact, allowing the first trademarks placed on color palettes — along with the iconic 7-Eleven colors. More in this Spoon & Tamago post.

PechaKucha of the Day

That’s the name of an exhibition taking place at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (until March 20), curated by Naoto Fukasawa (one of my favorite designers, and I still think the Neon is the best mobile phone I’ve owned). Fire & Ice is a beautiful zine produced by Noah Nguyen, focusing on type and lettering, all shot during a trip by Nguyen to Niigata. I’m not seeing anywhere to purchase it, so it may be a one-off. Found via Canvas.

Operation Olympiad
