PechaKucha Night Vol. 39

I’ve been bad at sharing updates here and I know I need to change that, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not as active as always with PechaKucha Nights and PauseTalks, with a few sessions of both having happened since I last wrote here.

Our last PechaKucha Night in Shanghai, Vol. 39, was not only the 10th event I organized with my PKN partner George Lobo since the relaunch of the series last year (it had previously been dormant for a few years), but it was also a collaboration with S-Tron, a conference focused on tech and start-ups.

Huge thanks to everyone who made it out on a dark and stormy night.

Our event was a regular PKN though, with the usual mix of varied topics, but the biggest surprise — a pleasant one — for us was just how giant the screen at the space (the West Bund Art Centre) ended up being, as well as the size of the seating area. Unfortunately, a typhoon hit the city around the time of our event, and so bad weather kept a lot of people away, but we still managed to attract at least the same sized crowd as we do at our regular events (close to 100). It was a wonderful experience, and I hope we can do it again next year.

George Lobo (my PKN partner) and me.

What’s next for PKN in Shanghai? Our Vol. 40 is set for November 7, and I’ll have more details to share in the coming weeks.
