Earlier tonight there was a fascinating profile on TV covering interior designer Takashi Sugimoto (the show aired at 22:00 on TV Tokyo). We were taken on a tour of some of his works — like the stunning Park Hyatt in Seoul — followed by a look at the house he bought and modestly renovated in Bali. Towards the end of the show, we followed the work that went behind a new dining bar he just designed/opened in Hibiya. Inspired by Bali woodwork, the space is very dark and intimate, and looks like the kind of place I could definitely see myself spending an evening in (along with his buddy, Yohji Yamamoto).
I’d like to link to some good sites with images of his various designs, but as is often the case when it comes to interior design and architecture, nothing much shows up.
