The other night I kept the flow of Asian films going, although more by association than anything else, by watching KILLING ME SOFTLY. If you ignore the credits you would probably be unaware of the Asian connection, but it’s actually directed by Chen Kaige (FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE, TEMPTRESS MOON, THE EMPEROR AND THE ASSASSIN). I think this is first “western style” film, and it actually wasn’t bad. A thriller with a twist ending, it’s actually the environment I think that hooked me. See, I can appreciate movies on different levels, and sometimes just the location (the movie takes place in London) draws me in.
