  • Babystar Ramen

Here’s the link to the wacky Babystar Ramen TV commercials I mentioned in TB. As for what the product is, it’s a sort of dried up ramen (noodles) that you eat like chips. And speaking of chips and ramen, the new issue of TOKYO WALKER talks about some new ramen-flavored chips. Being the hopeless ramen…

  • Final Day

Yesterday was the final day of my holidays, and as you can see by all the updates I did during the day in my moblog, we spent the afternoon in Aoyama. The main reason for going was to eat some tonkatsu (fried pork) at one of my favorite restaurants, Maisen. As we were approaching the…

  • Lobby

I just love this. We entered the lobby of a building in Aoyama, and this is what tells you what’s on every floor. Every lamp represents a company or shop.

  • Tadao Ando

I plan on checking out the Tadao Ando exhibit taking place right now at the Tokyo Station Gallery. Ando is a world renowned architect who is designing the planned renewal of the Dojunkai Aoyama apartments. He is often featured in magazines like CASA BRUTUS.

  • Cafe Co.

I stopped at the Libro bookstore on my way home from work to check out the magazines and design books, and found myself leafing through a book by a design company called Cafe Co. They’ve designed some simply beautiful spaces, and also run a few dining/cafe bars that are unfortunately located in the Kansai area…

  • Lammfromm

And speaking of Nara, it seems that the new “concept store” lammfromm in Yoyogiuehara is having a Nara and Murakami exhibit. You’ll also be able to buy lots of goodies, like the calendar above (although the site says that it’s sold out).

  • Nara Versus Fukigen

Momus corrects me about my recent moblog entry on the Fukigen bottle. I always assumed the illustration on the bottle was by Nara, but it seems that Asahi hired someone to make a Nara-inspired cover. When Nara pointed this out and expressed displeasure, he was told by Asahi to shut up or the matter would…

  • Tokyo Boy Is Live!

As you can see in the moblog column to the right, it is now possible to leave comments on individual entries, and this means that the Tokyo Boy site is finally live. You’ll still be able to view the 16 latest entries on the Nej main page (the number might be reduced though), but to…

  • Nakagin Capsule Tower

I’ve walked in front of the Nakagin Capsule Tower a few times, but never realized until today that it was actually composed of seperate capsule units, and that the interior features such a cool retro-futuristic look. I found the link at the recently launched and very interesting marginwalker.org discussion site. I’ll let one of its…

  • Hamburgers

Earlier I was watching a report on BROADCASTER about the past, present, and future of McDonald’s in Japan. They showed the insides of some stores that are featuring the new retro-futuristic look that I photographed a few weeks ago, but what I found most interesting was a graph with the fluctuations of the price of…
