Tokyo Section of the Rio Paralympics Closing Ceremonies
I just watched the Tokyo section of the closing ceremonies for the Rio Paralympics, and wow, it was even better than the one that was presented at the end of the regular Olympics. Again produced by Shiina Ringo, it just feels more stylish, includes AyaBambi, and ends with a cover of Pizzicato Five’s “Tokyo wa…

In the Glitter
In the Glitter is a fun 6-minute short to watch, made up of Tokyo’s neon signs. Becomes mesmerizing to watch. It was made by Stephen Smith 5 years ago, and so quite a few of these no longer exist. Found via Canvas.

RYO-Z & PES & Tofubeats & PlayStation
Sony tried something new with the sizzle reel that kicked off its pre-Tokyo Game Show PlayStation conference yesterday. The great 5-minute video features RYO-Z and PES of the group RIP SLYME, rapping about the included games on top of beats provided by Tofubeats. It’s fun stuff, and makes for an entertaining way to take in the lineup.

Cold in Yokohama

Watch the trailer here, and here’s a piece at Esquire about the film. There doesn’t seem to be any info on when it will be available to stream though (it premiered at a theater…

Toco Toco on Daisuke Ishiwatari
Toco Toco is an interview video series directed by Anne Ferrero (who also directed the fantastic Branching Paths documentary), and the latest episode features Guilty Gear director Daisuke Ishiwatari. The series was recently re-launched and currently focuses on game creators — the previous episode focused on Suda51.

Gouge
This is a really great UK documentary from 2002 about the Pixies, that you can watch on YouTube. It’s pretty neat seeing David Bowie, Radiohead, and PJ Harvey (and many others) wax poetically about their love for the band, and the parts from the London show you see (from a 1988 London gig) are so…
