What is this?
Shoot 1UP is a shoot ‘em up — or shmup — that adds the interesting twist that whenever you pick up a 1UP (new life), that new ship is immediately added to your armada, which you can expand and retract at will.
Why should I care?
There’s something very satisfying about having control of a fleet of tiny ships in the context of a shooter, especially if you get to reach the max number of 30 — as the game supports two players, that number can double to 60!
Who’s behind it?
Mommy’s Best Games, the one-man indie studio (aka Nathan Fouts) that was also behind one of the first successful titles created with the Microsoft XNA Game Studio development tool, the Contra-like Weapon of Choice .
Where can I get it?
Shoot 1UP is part of Microsoft’s “Indie Games” initiative — downloadable independently produced games for the Xbox 360 — and sells for 80 Microsoft Points (around $1).
