  • Game Center Dilemma

Matt Alt shares the responses from a 2channel post that asks Japanese gamers what they play when they go to game centers. The last one he highlights is a bit sad (but almost understandable): Whenever my friends and I go to the game center we basically stand around for a while and leave because there…

  • Score Studios

It’s been a good month for fellow PauseTalker James Kay, with his Tokyo-based game studio, Score Studios, finally launching its official website, as well as their first few iPhone apps, which includes the sheep herding game Flock It (above).

  • Playing Fez

Ever since I first saw a trailer for Fez at a PauseTalk a couple of years ago — when Polytron‘s Jason DeGroot (6955) was still living in Tokyo — I’ve been anxiously waiting to get my hands on a controller to bring that little Gomez to life myself. Well, I finally got my chance this…

I know that Abdel, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, was in town for a bit, working on pieces for the issue, so I’m sure there’s plenty of excellent Tokyo/Japan-related content to enjoy. Above, Katamari Damacy‘s Keita Takahashi,…

As a follow-up to JJ‘s “Second Life and the Future of the Music Industry” exhibition from earlier this year, he’s put together a site that looks at what was covered in the show. He also wrote a piece on the project in last month’s issue of J@pan Inc.

  • GameBirdTM

The latest paper bird to join Josh’s NaniBird collection is James Kay‘s GameBirdTM, which is his take on the NaniBird form factor meeting up with the original GameBoy. James — a fellow PauseTalker — is a Tokyo-based game developer, and runs the independent Score Studios.

  • Meat Bun DX

Some great new tees from Meat Bun this week, or rather, new DX versions of their most popular designs. I really dig the four name model, now in classic Famicom colors (I have the original white on red).

  • Fez. XBLA. 2010.

And it’s official: Polytron‘s Fez will be coming out on XBLA in early 2010. Next, here’s wishing Jason can come back and open a Tokyo branch of Polytron.
