So there you have it, Shantell’s poster for the Cafe Pause series is now up. I’ve already noticed a few people spend a bit of time looking at it, trying to pick up all the details that went into it. You can better see it here.

Gigantic thanks to Shantell Martin for creating what will be the third poster for the Cafe Pause Series I started earlier this year — previous posters were created by Ian Lynam and PMKFA. I will get it printed early this week, so it should be greeting visitors to the cafe soon enough.

Frequent PauseTalker Chris Kirby is currently holding an exhibition, the “Negative Series,” at the cafe until July 7. Says Chris about the show:

Tomorrow night (Friday, July 4, from 19:30) Chris will be on hand at the cafe for an informal reception. It will also be my final night in Tokyo before leaving the country for the next three weeks, so if you’re in the neighborhood, stop by for a drink or two!

Today I put up the second poster in the “Cafe Pause Poster Series,” replacing the previous one that was designed by Ian Lynam. The new poster is by PMKFA. Thanks, Micke! Below is a better a look at the poster.

It’s been a while, but designer Koji Kimura has brought in some new chairs at the cafe. Currently there are two like the one pictured above (the other one is yellow), and I believe there will be a third one, but I’m not sure if it’ll have the same shape, or if it’s something else entirely.

The cafe is currently hosting an exhibition of prints by Yuka Yamaguchi, “Strict! Japanese High School,” until January 13. It was also great to have her participate in this week’s edition of PauseTalk, where she talked about her works. I’ve put up a Flickr photoset of the show.

Instead of having an empty signboard at the entrance of the cafe, I decided to start a seasonal poster series. First up, a contribution from Tokyo-based graphic designer Ian Lynam. Below is a better look at the poster. Thanks, Ian!
