Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf

This iOS version of the the classic Lone Wolf choose-your-own-adventure books has been out for a while, but with today’s release of episode 3 (there will be 4 in all) they’ve made the first episode free, which was enough to tempt me to try it. I do have a lot of love for the original books, having read/played them in French back in the day. Just like the fantastic Sworcery! apps, this is an incredibly slick upgrade, and feels even more like a game than the Sworcery! apps (which were made by a different developer). Having played through the first 2 chapters, I gotta say I’ve been sucked in, and I imagine I’ll be buying all of the other episodes. The presentation is really well done (beautiful on iPad), and although I was a bit worried about the combat system when I was reading about the game – it’s much more involved than you would expect from a choose-your-own-adventure book – so far it’s quite fun.
