300: Rise of an Empire

Here’s why I wanted to watch this: Eva Green (no secret there, I’ll watch pretty much anything she’s in) and I do really dig action movies set in ancient times. I liked the original 300 – was a huge fan of Frank Miller’s book before that – and although I wasn’t particularly excited at the thought of a sequel, I did end up quite enjoying this. The biggest difference with the first film is that most of the combat takes place over water this time, and there’s certainly lots of epic battling to be had, with Eva presiding over a lot of the carnage. Good fun.
