Sowa Unit

Sowa Unit is a new project from architect Kensuke Watanabe, in the form of a rehabilitation center for mental illnesses located in Tokyo. The complex is made up of six connected two-storey concrete sections. Dezeen features a gallery of photos, as well as an explanation of the project from Watanabe.

Great to have a place to research architectural design ideas. Not sure how livable and comfortable those places though…

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young creatives to meet, network, and show their work in public, using the PechaKucha 20x20 format. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world.

PauseTalk is a Tokyo-based series of events that take place at Cafe Pause on the first Monday of every month, with a start time of 20:00. The idea is to create a forum where creatives can get together and discuss their own projects, as well as cultural currents of the city. The next edition is May 6.

We hereby define a new term, that of the magaziner, described as a person who exerts an unhealthy amount of love for all things magazine. The Magaziner is a site that mostly focuses on the intersection between magazines and the digital frontier, and what it means for the medium.

The Codex is an almost weekly podcast featuring an eclectic mix of music, hosted by Jean Snow and recorded live in Tokyo. Complete playlists for all episodes are posted on the website, and you can subscribe to RSS feeds of posts and episodes. The show is also in the iTunes Store.
