iPhone Bicycle Navigation System
Here’s a pretty interesting project in which Tokyo-based Ubiquitous Entertainment put together a navigation system that mounts an iPhone on a cycling helmet, with the display running into an eyepiece. Thanks to the device’s compass — if you have a 3GS that is — everything orients correctly as you move your head around. Via Core77.

wow that looks cool would like to try that out but I wonder if that HMD thing might confuse you when riding your bike in heavy traffic or you just switch it back and fourth whenever you have to check for directions!?
nice idea, but if you’ve tried biking with a helmet-rear-view mirror, you’ll fnd out it’s really hard (and dangerous) to change focus from the close-up mirror and look at the street as well. I imagine this is even harder with the eyepiece! Of course,? that may bother you only if you’re over 40 with deteriorating focal flexibility :-)
