Perhaps a key thing is to consider why the images are intended to be &quot;honest&quot; images of the subjects, and to consider the relationship between old portrait painters and their sitters.

Also, if you go to the exhibition (last day today!) Gary will likely be around to answer questions, or you can read the literature and catalogue there. The exhibition is a full installation, an audio experience as much as a photographic/visual one.
