Muji Tokyo Midtown

The next evolution of Muji? Sure, everyone’s talking about Muji’s upcoming flagship store in New York, but I’m more excited about the just-announced Muji Tokyo Midtown store, set to open March 30, when the Tokyo Midtown complex launches. According to the official site, this store is not going to stock your regular Muji goods, but instead is set to carry furniture where price is not a concern (i.e. expensive), with the focus on timeless design. Is this finally the result of last year’s buyout of the IDÉE brand? You can bet I’ll be there at launch to check things out.

  1. Wow, I had no idea the Midtown complex would be open so soon. I’m actually staying right across the street that week and will definitely be checking it out. I especially want to have a look at 21_21.

  2. Yeah, I’m also really looking forward to seeing the 21_21 Design Sight’s first exhibition, and just the building in general.

  3. I would like to see a book about interiors (cafe, shops, etc) showcasing furniture from idee. Their website has 1 picture from each site is hardly enough to get a visual on the ambiance of the interiors. How about a book project Jean, a bilingual photo book of stylish interiors by Idee? :)

  6. Yeah, maybe it was a bit presumptuous of me to say that I’d be there on opening day. I don’t deal very well with big crowds, and usually avoid these sort of openings. If I’m not there on opening day, then I’ll go on the first weekday morning.
