All Bape, All the Time

If I paid a lot of attention to this site’s stats — which I have been doing fairly regularly of late, especially since I purchased the great stat program Mint — I’d notice that what people want to know more about is A Bathing Ape (Bape). All Bape, all the time, yeah, that would bring the hits in! Looking at the top 18 searches that have lead to my site in the past 3-4 weeks (since I’ve started using Mint), 7 have to do with Bape: bape london, fake bapes, Bape, busy workshop london, bape new york, authentic bapes, and bape store london (I’m glad to see that the top 2 search terms are “jean snow” and “jeansnow” though).

OK, so you want Bape, and I feel sort of cheap just posting about Bape like this, referring to all these Bape searches. How about this then. Last week on one of the morning shows (I forget which one, but it was around 10:00 or so), Nigo was an invited guest, there to promote the opening of the latest Bape store in Tokyo — that would be BAPE KIDS in Harajuku — again designed by Wonderwall‘s Masamichi Katayama. So there you have him, the Bape General, being rather shy and polite (we learn that he loves “kani pan”). But then comes the awkward answer. After being asked if he was planning on having kids with his girlfriend — an actress, who had just appeared in a few clips together with Nigo at some sort of premiere or launch party — he replied, “Oh, no, I hate kids!”

So there you have it, BAPE KIDS Harajuku (Nara Bldg. 1F, 3-29-11 Jingumae), brought to you by the man who hates kids.
