JAPANAMERICA is a new book that takes a look at the convergence between Japanese and American pop cultures, and it’s something I really want to read (I don’t have a copy yet, but will get one soon). The author, Roland Kelts, was one of the contributors to CMP‘s KUHAKU — he divides his time between Tokyo and New York — and is also co-editor of the excellent literary journal A PUBLIC SPACE, which I mentioned a while back. The official site for the book has links to a few places online where you can order it. Kelts is currently in Tokyo, and will be giving talks at Tower Books in January and Good Day Books in February, and there should be a launch party here in Tokyo sometime next month — the US launch party was in New York last week, and included the first public screening of the new AFRO SAMURAI series.
