I am absolutely devastated. It’s one day before the Wii’s launch here in Japan (well, one day before I was planning on standing in line outside the Bic Camera in Ikebukuro), and I get hit with a cold. I’m feeling like crap, and can’t see that I’ll be able to make an all-nighter camped out near the Bic with the kind of cold weather we’re currently experiencing. Damn, damn, damn…

The Superfuture Superguides are a series of PDF travel guides to some of your favorites cities, updated monthly, and obsessively compiling the best places to shop, eat, and drink. The Tokyo guide is edited by Jean Snow.

He is also the design/culture editor at Neojaponisme, a web journal covering social and cultural aspects of Japan. Read the manifesto, by founder and chief editor W. David Marx, here.
PauseTalk is a regular series of events that take place at Cafe Pause on the first Monday of every month, with a start time of 20:00. The idea is to create a forum where Tokyo-based creatives can get together and discuss their own projects, as well as cultural currents of the city. The next edition happens August 4 (there is no July edition).

SHIZZLE.
There shouldn’t be much of a need to camp out for the Wii. The number of units is far from being as limited as the PS3.
And I know it might not be your case, but those with a Bic Camera/Suica credit card can even make a reservation at any shop.
Sorry to hear that Jean.
I just went and pre-ordered mine about an hour ago; with Zelda, Wii Play, Rayman, and an extra nunchuk. Our launch is next Thursday. Can’t wait!
I think if you get one Jean, be careful to protect your new TV.

Poor Jean! ; ) I also think if you go early at opening you have good chance to get one. Also the supply is expected to come back quicker than the PS3 wich come really slowly beacause of Blue Ray supply. Wii doesnt have this problem. good luck
Karl, yeah, I’ve seen those accidents. Scary!
And yeah, I’m thinking that I can maybe try to go early in the morning, just before they start selling them, and hope for the best.
they told us the same crap. there will be so many wii’s here, that it shouldn’t be much of a problem to get one. witch is totaly BS. you can’t get a wii here.. if you don’t get one on release, probably expect to be camping on rumors of shipments. people are doing that here still for wii’s.. and we have the “nintendo world store” for crying out loud.
Does Jean or anyone else know if they will be available at all Bic Cameras (if we queue) or only at a few? I dont wanna queue all night if there arent going to be any!
It seems they will be sold at all shops, or at least the ones listed here (if that’s not all of them).

Top block: sales start at 7:00
Bottom block: lottery, pick up a ticket between 9:00 and 10:00, results at 11:00
Thanks for that! Hadnt seen that page! It’s gonna be a long night!
Did you succeed to get one ?!?
Patrick, thanks for the tip. I’m feeling a bit better today, not enough to stand in line all night, but I think that first I’ll go see around 6 if I can get one at the main shop, where they are having a line, and if not, then I’ll go try the lottery at one of the other Bics in Ikebukuro.
I got to the Bic in Tachikawa at 6 (figured it would be less busy than the ones in the city - stoooopid of me) and they were all gone. Absolutely gutted
