Spirou

I grew up on BD (French comics), and still have a special place in my heart for Spirou — I still try to get all the new albums — and I was shocked and pleased to learn that the new album (49) brings our great adventurer to Tokyo! Even more intriguing is the fact that manga artist Hiroyuki Oshima is currently working on an original manga adventure for Spirou. The image you see above is taken from a French newspaper article, with the “manga” Spirou appearing on the left (thanks, Pierre, for sending me the articles).

OK, time for another rant. Someone please, please make it easier for me to get my hands on some BD in Tokyo at a reasonable price! Amazon Japan, please give us access to the catalogue of Amazon France! And anyone know how I can get my hands on the new monthly manga-like BD magazine (think the JUMP format) from les Humanoides associes, SHOGUN? I desperately want to read the first issue, that just came out. (And the fact that I’d love to get my hands on that new Spirou album as well goes without saying.)

  2. Thanks, Olivier, I’ll get in touch with you. I have to say that I did like the Tome/Janry ones (except their last one, where they tried to go mature with the art), but yeah, Franquin will never be replaced…
