That's actually a great suggestion. I know I don't take pictures of people often, and video would be a nice way to do that.

I see a lot of your pictures are about things and not the people making them. Maybe you could use your camera to capture the people that make all the "things" you find (and we find) interesting. So it could supplement what you are already doing. By capture I don't mean interviewing, more capturing their essence in some cool place. I recommend this style myself (ethereal), but you get a good idea that people are having fun!!! see http://www.virtualcamera.com/samplework/html/orange320.html, I know they have amazing equipment to do that, but you'd be amazed what you can do with your miniDV and a tripod. Also take night material, a lot of your pictures take place during the day ;) (I guess you work at night) and most of all have fun with it!!!

How about people sprinting through Shinjuku, Shibuya or Ikebukuro Station to catch their respective last trains? I've seen some crazy antics, running over people/things, and the look on people's faces on whom the doors close is killer. Perhaps you could patch together 30 or 40 second clips (as different lines stagger their last trains) for a total of 2 or 2.5 mins and contrast with morning rush hour as the white gloved station staffs (I'm thinking Hibiya line from Kita Senju or Chuo Express from Hachioji) push people in.

Yeah, but the thing is, when you've lived here as long as I have, you sort of get used to it all, and I don't really know what's special anymore. I mean, for pictures it's different, since I don't think videotaping the outside of a building or a store makes for anything very interesting.

Taping inside galleries would be difficult as it's generally not allowed (even photography), but the other projects sound like fun.

u could go around and video tape video art installations in tokyo that the rest of us never get to see =) or make a compilation of design videos from local designers or set up a collabroative space where people can write and edit plays line by line, vote, and then get filmed.
