New Building in Harajuku

As promised, here is a Flickr photoset of some shots I took earlier this week of the new building in Harajuku I’ve been so curious about. Since it hasn’t opened yet, and there are no signs indicating who will occupy it, it’s still a bit of a mystery building. I’m actually quite surprised by the fact that I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere (in the media) yet.

Update
A reader points us to this page, that has a bit more info on the building. The design is by CDI (Creative Designers Internatinal), a multilingual design practice based in Ayoyama, and the building itself is set to include “retail outlets, restaurants and a fitness centre.”

  1. Nice pictures.

Multiple clients will occupy it, though no specific names:

Also repeated on these blogs, with some alternate photos and bits:

There are some ugly buidlings along that stretch of Meiji-dori, so Veloqx’ redevelopment plans for the area (the METI site probably has documents on it if you dig) are welcome, by the looks of this project.
