Get ready for PSP madness to hit the street — alongside the Nintendo DS madness, that has already made it impossible to get a system because they can even match all the pre-orders — with this wacky marketing initiative:
According to Shibuya Keizai Shinbun, the company will be promoting the PSP in Tokyo by showcasing thirty mannequins that will be holding the handheld with stunned looks on their faces. It seems that this avant-garde ad campaign will be targeted at young, working age consumers (who have money to burn) rather than kids, as the mannequins will start off by appearing at popular coffee shops and interior showrooms in the fashion district of Tokyo, followed by shopping centers and other locations throughout the city. The image I have in my head is of OH! MIKEY style mannequins holding the PSPs.
