Something new at the Watari-Um Museum of Contemporary Art in Aoyama. REALTOKYO says:
Each of the 6 international participants in this exhibition creates his/her own original “space”. The first one that catches the visitor’s attention is Gerda Steiner & Jorg Lenzlinger’s “Whale Balance”. The installation featuring an array of platns, bones, food samples and other objects the artists have assembled while in Japan comes across with a fine balance of colors and silhouettes. There’ll be a white carpet on the floor that invites visitors to lie down and view he pieces that are hanging down from the ceiling. In a last-minute decision, the work of Federico Herrero was also included in the event. A piece that leaves the museum’s exhibition space, this one is displayed outside (which is something we’ve seen at Watari Museum in the past). Pick up a map at the museum and set off for the quest for the artwork while strolling the neighborhood. What a nice concept!
Something else to add to my list of things to do in Aoyama. Might try going this weekend.
