Earlier this week I went to my favorite ramen shop, Komen, and was completely shocked when I found out that they had changed the taste of their soup (it was obvious on the first sip, and then I checked the menu more carefully). I’m still in total shock actually. They went from my favorite to now something that I wouldn’t even rank in my top 10. They added a strong fish taste to the soup, which is quite popular these days, but something that I don’t much like. Aaargghhhhh!!! My only consolition is that I spotted two new ramen shops in Ikebukuro (on the East side even) in this week’s issue of TOKYO WALKER. I’ll try to sample them next week.
