I am now addicted to firecrackers. Summer is firecracker and fireworks season in Japan, and you can find all sorts of firecrackers in the convenience stores. Last night we were taking a midnight stroll, as we often do, and we stopped by at Don Qixote and on impulse picked up a few. I’d been wanting to get some for a while, but just hadn’t gotten around to it yet. We came home and started lighting them in front of our door, and I really got into it. As soon as we were done, we went to get some more at the combini down the road. We ended up lighting firecrackers for around an hour, probably entertaining (and mystifying) a few passersby. I definitely want to get some more before we leave for Canada. It’s only too bad that I can’t bring them with me, as they’re illegal in Canada and I doubt I could get them through customs (I even had to take my shoes off at the gate in Seoul before boarding the plane).

I don’t know what ghost month is. I think firecrackers and fireworks are just part of Summer celebrations, and they place during July and August.
ghost month usually takes place in late july through august on the western calendar. it’s when the gates of hell are opened and ghosts return to the world of the living. if you don’t set out food for them they may play tricks on you. i think it’s a buddhist holiday/tradition. the firecrackers could be for that, but now that i think about it more that probably doesn’t make that much sense. unless the firecrackers were to somehow keep them from playing tricks on you.

Me too but I resorted to making my own its easy buy and Schreecheroo or screaming devils, wrap them up in electricians tape(black tape) and hit with hammer until soft. Anyway, I’m looking for some firecrackers also, i have made my own, you know, the old backwards tape around a glue stick trick, and use a razorblade to cut pieces of the glue stick off for end caps, then fill it up with chlorate flash from caps, or just black powder, and a sparkler for the fuse (well i have about two feet of visco. If you guys live in Vancouver, B.C all you have to do is drive over the border to the Indian Reserve (10 minutes past the border) Take the Blaine Crossing. Then you go through the reserve and in 2 minutes of driving you will pass atleast 5 stands selling firecrackers. Illegal stuff too, Like M-80’s and what not, If it has more powder then the legal amount (50 mg). Then you go to bellis fair mall and you go to the parking lot mall. You stash it all in your car. Then you go back across the border. You will not get caught unless they are visible. Usually the Canadian Customs don’t check if you are canadian citizen returning to Canada. Just act normal. After you get across don’t pull it all out and start laughing and talking about it. 15 km before the border and 15 km after the border they have cameras and microphones. If you pull your shit out they will chase you. Wait 15 minutes then take it out. Good luck.

Here’s how to smuggle fireworks:
Step 1: Get yourself a medium size dyuil. Not a plastic dyuil, though. It needs to have some level of titanium content.
Step 2: Wrap the dyuil in a Elkrao shawl. Very tightly.
Step 3: Rebork the dyuil two or three times and then inflagerate shawl until you get a package about the size of a yurt-cart.
Step 4: Hide shawl package in a real yurt-cart.
Yeah, that’s how you do it!
Any Canadian has fond memories of a good old dyuil (or they’re lying).

Canadaian customs agents are more worried about alcohol and tobbacco than anything else.

As long as your papers are legit and you are a 30 y-o canadian white guy with an ok lookin girlfriend, they wont start asking about fireworks.
You can go to any fireworks store in canada buy sky rockets with reports, tape the top shut and instead of firework its a firecracker, or you can make them with paper and matches, im gunna go to US tho and buy a shit load.
